This review is mostly for the excellent restaurant, but we also had a very good experience staying at the hotel. Clean, comfortable, welcoming, and the bathroom had fantastic towels! Plus a nice view out over the town from our room. Food-wise, it was straight-forward but perfectly prepared comfort food. The soup of the day was a somewhat Thai inspired coconut/squash that had all the warmth you’d expect from a harvest soup but was lightened enough by the coconut to work as a summer dish. The steak pie was flawless. The beef melted in your mouth, the puff pastry was almost unbelievably flaky, and the gravy was the best I’ve ever had. The vegetables were cooked exactly right, and the brandy snap base of my banoffee dessert was delicious.

Went here for lunch. The food was delicious and catered for Gluten Free. Service was fast and the servers were lovely. We were seated in the bar area which was spacious and welcoming. Plenty of parking in the carpark at the front of the hotel. Would definitely phone and book as it is a busy place. Will definitely be back.

I stayed here with some friends a few weeks ago. The Hotel is nice, rooms were a good size, well appointed and very clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. When we checked in they also booked a dinner reservation for us as it was a Friday and they said it will get busy. When we came down for dinner we were seated promptly, and we had drinks served fairly quickly. Our server came and was helpful with recommendations. That's where it went wrong. We had our drinks and waited for our food and waited and waited some more. We could see that the place was busy so we tried to be patient but then we noticed two people that arrived after us got their food, ate and left. Then another table was sat, probably a good half hour after us and now their food had arrived! I spoke to the person in charge, she apologised and told me they were short of kitchen staff, that may well be the case but I have a feeling our order was missed. My friends and I are reasonable people, perhaps just coming to the table and saying "sorry for the delay, we are short staffed but we haven't forgotten you" would have sufficed. Anyway, the food was very good, and they did provide us with a couple of complimentary drinks and a couple of Irish coffees to make amends. Overall our experience was a good one, the wait aside, these things happen but maybe just communicating with the diners would have made a big difference.

We had a great stay in Thurso. The hotel is ideally located, just outside Thurso on the A9. The staff were super friendly, the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. If you're looking for a base to explore the North coast, it's ideal. Highly recommended.

Went for dinner. We did not have a booking, although they were busy as a bus load of people had just arrived, they fitted us in. The food was very, very nice and lots of vegetables ( which have lacked on our trip around Scotland). I would definitely recommend eating here. I don't know about the accommodation as we were not staying there

Loved this place. We stayed only one night as we were just passing through on our NC500 journey. Plenty of off-street parking. The rooms were a bit dated, but quiet, comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent, as was the service. Highly recommend.

The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Everything there that you would need. We went down for a meal and was greeted by a young woman who looked like she rather be anywhere but there. Also having staff serving food to people with dirty trainers on is a complete no no. Very unprofessional looking. We were offered a table that was 2 feet away from the door that people were walking through from the function to get drinks. We declined that table and were given a table a bit further back. The food was ok for the price. Overall I’d stay in the hotel again but go elsewhere for food.

I stayed here during my 2023 John O'Groats to Lands End ride, when I was accompanied by my wife and 13 year old son, who were acting as support crew. The Park Hotel is a charming purpose built family owned hotel, just off the main road in Thurso, opposite a large Tesco. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a comfortable well-furnished family room with one double and a single bed. Our room was at the front and quiet with views over the town. A kettle is provided in the room to make hot drinks and top up flasks with a thoughtful selection of caffeinated and decaff varieties including hot chocolate. The bathroom was clean and roomy with a shower over the bath. The onsite restaurant and bar serves delicious food – the best cooked salmon my wife had - but it is busy so it is advisable to book beforehand. My bike was stored securely overnight in a back room – you need to ask the staff to access it. Parking was at the front of hotel. Breakfast comprised cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries as well as a cooked breakfast and pancakes. The kitchen were happy to freeze our ice packs overnight.

Great location, 10 minute stroll across the river from the town. Plenty of parking on site. Nice views if sitting in the window area of bar lounge. Nicely decorated. Good menu, varied and reasonable prices. Waiting person was not the best, could do with some people skills. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Portions were ample. Soup was 4.50, steak pie, GF, 10.95, panini 6.75 and Cajun chicken burger 12 ish. Would come back.

Danny and I stayed 31 December 2017. I had to quickly write a Google review as I now rely on Google for everything. I would love to come back to this location in the future. I made a note in 2017 that the shower access for disable access was large, i.e. plenty of room, fast turn around for laundry also.

We arrived on time to be greeted with a warm welcome! All the staff were helpful and pleasant at all times, we booked a evening meal and our food was very good, the Beef very tender and the meat pie was full of meat! With the puffy pastry. Our room was very clean and fresh, our full Breakfast was included in the price and it was spot on! And yes if I’m up that way again I will 100% stop there again! After 5 days on the NC500 staying at a variety of locations, The Park Hotel Thurso is by far the most comfortable accommodation we have stayed at so far. Good sized immaculately clean rooms, good facilities and within walking distance of amenities, it is ideal and highly recommended. Breakfast is excellent too.

Fantastic stay at this hotel, we travelled all the way from the East Midlands to complete the NC500 route and this was our stop off in between, great rooms brilliant service and 10/10 breakfast. Very hospitable and would deffo recommend.

We popped in on a Tuesday afternoon the place was lovely and clean and decorated for Christmas tastefully. Even though they had the Christmas menu on you could still order from the standard menu, there were 3 of us and we ordered from both menus, the service was quick and the food was excellent and the staff nice and helpful, the only negative was that it could have been a little bit warmer, I understand due to covid places need to work slightly differently such as letting more air in but just a little bit warmer and it would have been a perfect 5 stars.

We were visiting family in Thurso and this hotel is nearby. We have eaten at this hotel many times before ,always good meals. The dining area is spacious and the tables are spread apart well to comply with covid regulations. The Park Hotel is located on the right just as you arrive in Thurso from the south and just before the Tesco store. I thought I should post a review about the meals I had. Saturday night.Steak pie.This has to be the best steak pie ever, so tender, the beef and gravy and the accompanied veg of parsnip cauliflower and carrots with potatoes or chips, make this dish at the Park a must have. Sunday night. Back again......oh yes. Supreme pan seared Orkney salmon. Wow 😋 . A generous sized piece of salmon on a bed of buttered spinach, along with small crispy potatoes and a similar veg served as with the above Steak pie. Delicious. Just perfect, perfect. 10/10

This should be rated higher than a 3 🌟. Staff were so friendly and nothing was an issue from being checked in to being served breakfast it was all just great. Room was spotless, decor was lovely and most of all the bed was so comfy, a great nights sleep we had too. Would highly recommend and will definately be back.

Lovely family run independent hotel in a convenient location a short walk from town very near to Tesco. Nice rooms with good beds and a full bath, love that they provide free Tunnocks treats in the room too! Made a perfect stop off on our NC500 trip and the included full Scottish breakfast was an excellent way to start the day!

Nice room and good service. The only thing I would expect to be better is the shower tub — it’s been very slippery and there are no safety handles. We fell a couple of times but fortunately there were no injuries.

Nice stay. Kitchen extremely good, highly recommended. Thsnk you for Balmoral.l chicken. No superb views from rooms but they are spacious, clean and have all you need for a rest. Beach walming distance. Tesco store near by as well as towm centre. Staff is super helpfull.

HOW THIS FOR SERVICE, (ACROSS THE WORLD) 10+ stars Sandra at the Park Hotel Thurso Scotland delivered and I mean literally. I have an elderly much loved relative in Thurso, she lives alone, not very mobile and has been enduring the lockdown. Her birthday was on Tuesday and I decided to surprise her with a birthday present of a special meal. An email to the Park Hotel, set in motion, a link to an extensive menu choice, and quick response from Sandra, arrangements and payment made to deliver a meal, on the cold snowy evening, at a precise time. Least to say the recipient was thrilled to receive a lovely hot, 3 course dinner, make that 4 course, as there were two sweets (loves her sweeties) OH! - Did I mention I live in Western Australia…… I’m absolutely over the moon with this exceptional service and kindness. Some of the rooms are worn and old , ask for the newer rooms. Bathrooms are a good size, beds are comfortable. Food is nothing great. Wished they had mini fridges in the room. Right across from Tesco and a nice short walk to the high street of Thurso and the beach or the river.

Only hotel we went to where breakfast to the room wasn't offered during our week in Scotland. Seemed like a strange oversight and the woman checking us in made us feel like we were crazy for asking. Thankfully we got up at 7am and since it was slow the staff was nice enough to bring up our food but we did have to drive elsewhere for take out for dinner since dinner up to the room also was not an option.

Easy to find and good car parking with a good location near to town. Everything in walking distance. Hotel reception and all of hotel felt freshly decorated and so clean. The decoration is nice too. All Covid guidelines appeared to be being followed and staff so helpful. We stayed 2 nights on our NC 500 honeymoon and it was the perfect place to stay. The room (maybe room 4) was at the back on the first floor and a good size, with a powerful shower and good bed. Had Netflix in the room too. The restaurant had a great menu with a good variety which we ate in the two nights, had a lovely new Zealand wine, so good We had the same the second night. First night we had a starter, main and desert and they were all good. Second night we just had a main as so full. Breakfasts really set us up for the day. Overall a good hotel at a good price.
